Help for Tanzania: Education opens up future prospects

"Getting closer – helping better", the corporate motto of Wörwag Pharma, also applies to the foundation of our social commitment: Not only financially, but with considerable personal resources, the company has been supporting humanitarian aid projects in Africa. It is essential to be "close" to the donation project and to the people at the location in order to be better able to help.

Gesundheitsthemen

Since 1997, we have been supporting various humanitarian aid projects of the Moravian Church in Tanzania, one of the world's poorest countries. A special concern for us is the construction of vocational schools: In the southern Tanzanian small city of Namtumbo, a new vocational school center of the Moravian Church (Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine) could be opened, and Wörwag Pharma bore most of the costs for its construction and equipment. As a result of this, young people can complete their training as tailors, carpenters, electricians or computer specialists in the structurally weak Namtumbo - and have an opportunity to determine their own lives.

Following the same model, a training center came into being in 2013 in Songea, 60 km away, where currently 62 young people are learning a trade. The first graduates have already successfully passed their examinations. Also, construction work in the southern Tanzanian village of Kakozi for the next vocational school is already in full gear. Starting in January 2017, students may get an education here that will open up future prospects and strengthen the entire region's economy.
